НЯКОЙ ДЕН
SOMEDAY
An unnecessary love wanders through the world. A lonely, unwanted love stands outside in the rain, waiting for you to call. But right now you do not need this love. It is immense. Vast. Destructive. Your world is small, and it cannot contain it. Your world is too small and would burst beneath its weight.
A lonely love walks through the rain, hoping that someone will adopt it. It is so immense that my little heart may burst from it. There is room for it neither in my heart nor in yours. Both are too small.
Do you see what we have done? You played with my heart, and I welcomed your attention. Do you see what we have done? We have created a cosmic love that is about to destroy us. The energy of the whole universe gathered inside two small hearts.
But neither you nor I have room for this love. Nor is there such an enormous container in the world that could hold it. I suggest that we find a great cosmic storehouse and keep it there. Our immense love will live inside this storehouse. Whenever we feel lonely and without love, we will come and take a little of it. This cosmic love is our love. There will be enough for everybody.
And someday, when you feel your heart growing cold, come and find me. Together we will go to our cosmic storehouse, set our love free, and it will bring our frozen hearts back to life. Someday, when our small, frightened and broken hearts are finally free.

КОГАТО СЕ ИЗГУБИХ
WHEN I LOST MYSELF
It happened quite unexpectedly and without warning. I was up on the hill. It was bright and joyful, and then suddenly everything became dark and I began to fall. After that, I no longer remembered anything about myself. I had not brought a photograph with me, so I did not know what I looked like. I could not remember anything about myself. It was a dark night. Complete darkness.
I set off to look for myself. First, I searched within myself, trying to remember who I was, what I loved to do and who my beloved was. But I saw only darkness.
Then I searched around me, trying to recognise my surroundings and find the way home. But I found nothing. I saw only paths with many steps leading to other people’s houses. I did not see a single untrodden path.
I searched everywhere. I reached the market, but I could see only the glitter of money in people’s eyes. They had come there to buy happiness. Some could buy a great deal of happiness and others very little, and this made them unhappy, filling their hearts with jealousy and hatred.
I went to look for myself in a bar, but they told me that they did not serve women. That was how I discovered that I was a woman. I asked whether they knew my beloved, but they told me that no one loved anyone there. They said, however, that if I wished, I could earn some money by allowing others to discover love through me. I was not certain whether my love might be waiting for me somewhere outside, so I left.

DECIMAL NUMBERS
Maybe you are the kind of person who thinks that you do not need decimals at all. You are wrong, because in our daily lives as non-mathematicians, we use decimals very actively. Let us remember where we use them.
In many languages, the concept of a fraction is expressed through words connected with breaking or dividing. In Latin, the word fractura is derived from frango, meaning “to break”.
Decimal fractions, in turn, became widely used in the late sixteenth century after the publication of the book De Thiende (The Tenth) by the Flemish engineer and mathematician Simon Stevin in 1585. Mathematicians also wrote about converting common fractions into decimals and vice versa during the seventeenth century.
The ways in which decimals have been written have also differed noticeably over the centuries. The fraction bar was probably borrowed from Arab mathematicians. However, even in the middle of the seventeenth century, some mathematicians still did not use it. The decimal point was introduced in the sixteenth century and was later popularised by John Napier.

DO NOT FALL IN LOVE WITH ME
Do not fall in love with me. I beg you. Do not do it. Love is a proven form of insanity. It will change you. You will lose your mind. Do not fall in love with me. Do not do it. The world needs common sense in order to move forward towards the progress it dreams of. Do not fall in love with me. Do not do it. Because then you will grow accustomed to me. And I will become ordinary. I am a goddess of love. Let us just talk.
Last year, another of your brothers in destiny made the fatal mistake of falling in love with me. He met me by chance on a street along which I was passing, following my destiny. He stopped me and asked me what time it was. It is a banal question, is it not? I answered him. Then he asked me to write it on a piece of paper so that he would not forget it. He took the piece of paper with trembling hands and asked whether I would walk down the same street again the following day and whether I would be wearing a watch. I said that if my destiny so decided, I would pass along that street again because I loved the beautiful flowers growing there.

SILK JOURNEY
When you left, the sun did not shine for three days. On the radio, they said there had been an extraordinary solar eclipse. The reason astonished all the physicists and explorers of the cosmos. The moon stopped its lonely orbit around the Earth and remained motionless for three days. This caused a series of cosmic cataclysms with unpredictable consequences.
The moon did not want the sun to outshine your departure. After three days of sorrow and universal confusion, the sun rose again above all the gardens, parks, forests, seas and oceans. It illuminated the whole Earth with its light. It warmed every cold heart. But the sun did not rise above my house, and the trees in my garden remained sunk in darkness.
When you left, my only companion was the lonely moon, which rose every night above my garden, became caught among the branches of one of the trees, and remained there until morning like a faithful guardian.
When you left, the clouds travelled around the Earth, gathering the tears of all the lonely people. Then they poured tonnes of tears upon the ground in the form of rain. The rain fell with the force of the Biblical Flood and left lasting traces in the form of tear-filled eyes.
